Keysight provides license management utilities to enable you to install, view, transport, and borrow the licenses you have purchased for use with Keysight products. These license management utilities enable you to specify license servers (for license server setup, see "Keysight License Server" below under Related Links) from which to share floating licenses among users with the same product.

Keysight employs several versions of FlexNet Publisher licensing technology to enable licenses for products that can be installed and run on Windows and Linux PCs, as well as Windows-based instruments. Each version of licensing has an associated license management utility.

Please refer to your Keysight product documentation to determine which of the following license management utilities are appropriate for your product(s). In many cases, the appropriate license management utility is included in the installation of your Keysight product or is preinstalled on your Keysight instrument.

 

PathWave License Manager (PLM)

This license management utility allows you to manage all types of Keysight licenses for a variety of software products and instruments. Note that versions 7.3 of PLM and newer are fully feature compatible with, and replaces both Keysight License Manager 5 and Keysight License Manager 6.

Keysight License Manager (KLM, KLM5)

This license management utility allows you to manage node-locked and transportable licenses for a variety of software products and instruments. This tool is sometimes called Keysight License Manager 5 (KLM5 or KLM 5).

NOTE

KLM does not install the tool that generates the Host ID, which is called Keysight License Service. You don't need to install this tool separately because the software that uses the licenses typically installs both Keysight License Service and KLM. Therefore, in most cases, there is no need to install KLM separately.

Keysight Floating License Manager for Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Software Products

This license management utility allows you to manage floating and USB portable licenses specifically for Advanced Design Software (EDA) products.

You can use the Keysight Floating License Manager for EDA to configure remote license servers for sharing licenses across a network, or to configure a local license server (used with Design Software node-locked licenses) on the computer or instrument where your Keysight software is installed.

Keysight License Manager 6 (KLM6)

⚠Note: KLM 6 has been discontinued and replaced by the fully-feature-compatible PathWave License Manager (v7.3 or later).

KLM 6 provided the means to manage floating and USB portable licenses for a variety of software products and instruments.

Keysight License Manager 6 also provided the means to configure remote license servers for sharing licenses across a network.

If KLM 6 was used to configure a remote license server to serve floating licenses to remote clients, then after upgrading to PLM (to replace KLM 6) it is usually required to upgrade the remote license server software as well. This is done by downloading and setting up Keysight License Server on the remote license server which previously hoste KLM 6.
