How to Install a License File in Keysight License Manager

Overview

After you redeem a License Entitlement Certificate for a license, you should receive an email with the actual license file. This email has instructions that tell you how to install the license file.

There are three (3) ways to install a license with Keysight License Manager:

1. In KLM as a file
2. In KLM as a text string
3. Automatically from a USB memory device

Install from a license file document

After redeeming the license, the generated license file (*.lic) can be added to the system by installing it in the Keysight License Manager.

• Select the Wrench icon and Install License File. This displays a Windows file selection window.

• Use the file window to navigate to and select the license file (*.lic) to be added.
• Select Open.
• License Manager automatically installs the license file in the folder and notifies you with a pop-up that the license has been stored in your license directory.

 

 

Install a license from text

This option allows license installation by manually entering the license information as text. This may be useful if the system lacks Internet access or has security restrictions that prevent copying files.

• Select the Wrench icon and Install License from Text. This displays the Install License from Text dialog box.

Type or paste the license data exactly as received from Keysight. The data will resemble the following examples:

• Click the Install button to install the license.

 

 

Install automatically from a USB memory device

Keysight License Manager automatically scans USB memory devices for license files. If it finds one, it installs it.

Sometimes users try to then manually installs the license file, and get an error message as shown below. This just means the license is already installed. Just ignore the message.
