BenchVue? Start Here
Goal
Getting started with BenchVue involves three (3) tasks before you can use it. This guide will walk you through each, in order.
But First…
What is BenchVue? Do you need it?
BenchVue offers the ability to not only control your instrument, but to capture screen shots, view real-time data, log data for long periods of time, and create multi-instrument sequences (“Test Flow”) to eliminate tedious manual steps. It can also allow you to communicate with non-Keysight hardware using the SCPI or Command Expert feature in Test Flow.
Because BenchVue comes with all this flexibility, it requires many extras to be installed that you may not need. We’ve streamlined the requirements for certain apps – DMM, FG, PS, Scope – to minimize download time and unnecessary installations of other programs. But even these “standalone” apps can take time to install and learn.
If all you need are screen shots, you can capture these directly on the instrument and then store them on a flash drive, or use the instrument web pages where available. Most instruments can also be set up to save measurement data right on the instrument, for later transfer to a PC for analysis. This can be done without the need to purchase and install licenses.
