How to do a Deep Clean for BenchVue
When things go wrong with software, sometimes a “deep clean” is needed. This is the deep clean procedure for BenchVue.
To remove BenchVue from your PC completely, do this:
- Go to Control Panel → Programs and Features
- Uninstall Keysight BenchVue
- Uninstall Keysight BenchVue Troubleshooting Wizard
- Uninstall anything beginning with Keysight PathWave BenchVue (standalone apps)
- If you do not plan to use any Keysight software, also uninstall these:
⚠Other Keysight software might use these libraries. Uninstalling them may render other Keysight software inoperable. However, for best results, these should be uninstalled. Thus it is best to uninstall all Keysight software.⚠
❕ You can filter the installed software by name. You can compare “Installed On” dates to help figure out dependencies. ❕
- Keysight BenchLink Waveform Builder (33503B)
- Keysight Host Processor Platform
- Keysight License Service
- Keysight Licensing Daemon
- Keysight License Manager (also known as KLM5)
- Keysight License Manager 6 (if present; now obsolete)
- Keysight Communications Fabric
- Keysight IO Libraries Suite
- Keysight Distributed Architecture
- Keysight Software Manager Utility (formerly called Keysight PathWave License Manager)
- Keysight BenchVue also installs the following libraries if they are not already present. If not needed by other software, these should also be uninstalled.

- Microsoft ASP.NET Core 3.1.32 (x64)
- Microsoft Windows Desktop Runtime 3.1.32 (x64)
- All versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (2008, 2010, 2012, 2015-22), x64 and x86
- Wibukey Setup (handles USB Portable licenses)
- IVI and VISA Shared Components
- IVI and VISA .NET Shared Components
- Agilent USB Modular driver
- Keysight VISA Cross Platform Components (x64 and x86)
- MATLAB Compiler Runtime (used by Waveform Builder Pro)
- .NET 3.5 (System component no longer installed by default by Windows)
- Back up any data you wish to keep in the following folders, then delete these folders and all subfolders if still present:
- C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Keysight (platform app data)
- C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Keysight (standalone app data)
- C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Keysight (user datalogs are stored here)
- C:\ProgramData\Keysight (check for non-BenchVue folders you may wish to keep)
- C:\Program Files\Keysight (check for non-BenchVue folders you may wish to keep)
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Keysight (check for non-BenchVue folders you may wish to keep)
- Reboot
