How to Install BenchVue the Right Way
Follow this guide to install BenchVue in the most efficient manner.

There are four versions of BenchVue:
These applications can be mixed. Some apps have all four options, some do not. Some apps can only run in the platform, and some do not have Basic versions. You do not have to pick only one style of application for everything.
After you’ve downloaded your desired version of BenchVue, go to the following Offline or Online installation Sections.
Use Administrator Privileges
⚠ Always install with administrator privileges. Once installed, it is not necessary to have these privileges to run BenchVue. However, in some cases, you need to run the BenchVue Platform to install apps. In that case, be sure to run the platform with Administrator privileges before installing apps! ⚠
When started, the BenchVue platform pops up a notification for a few seconds if there are any updates available. The messages can also be seen by clicking the exclamation mark icon:
Licensed apps that run inside the platform can be updated from ithe “Applications View”. Click any app icon to see if the Installed Version is older than the Latest Version. If so, an “Update” button will appear allowing you to update to that latest version.
⚠If you have installed a Basic (free) app, clicking Update will overwrite it with the licensed version. If you don’t have a license for that app, it will no longer run. Basic apps can only be updated outside of BenchVue by running the Basic version of the installer. ⚠
The platform itself can be updated from inside the platform too. To do so, click the gear in the upper right corner of BenchVue’s main page, then select Settings, then the Updates tab and then click Check for Updates:
If a newer version is available, it can be installed right there. An Internet connection is required.
Of course, it is also possible to update apps by running the appropriate installer(s) outside of BenchVue, by downloading them directly from the Keysight web site. If doing this, be sure to first end the Keysight BenchVue Service process using Task manager.
Standalone apps (no platform needed) can only be updated by running the appropriatre installer. They can’t be updated from within the app.
Offline installation procedure:
Download the offline installer for your chosen apps and/or platform on a computer with internet access.
If the end destination is not the same PC, move the installer to the target PC.
Run the installer with admin permission.

Any needed dependencies (e.g., IO Libraries) will also be installed.
