Photonic Applications Package Manager Software Installation Procedure

This article explains the procedure for installing software using the Photonic Applications Package Manager.

Download the Photonic Applications Package Manager

Download the Photonic Applications Package Manager from the Photonic Applications Package Manager download site.

Unzip the downloaded ZIP file and run the EXE file with administrator privileges. The following screen will appear. If you do not run it with administrator privileges, errors may occur during software package installation, and the installation may not complete successfully.

Install the Desired Software

Follow the steps below to install the software:

1. Select the appropriate group from the tabs at the top, such as “PAS” or “N77xx”.
2. Click “Download” in the Action column to download the package file.
3. Once the download is complete, click “Install” to install the package file.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed with the installation.
5. When the installation is complete, the display in the Action column will change to “Reinstall”.

In many cases, measurement instrument control software requires other software to function properly. Software dependencies will be indicated in the Package Manager. First, install the instrument control software you want to use, and then install the software marked with an arrow icon as shown in the figure below.
 

Additionally, during installation, you may be prompted to install other dependent software first. Carefully read the messages before clicking OK to proceed with the installation.

After installation is complete, launch the software from the Windows system. You cannot launch the software from the Photonic Applications Package Manager.

If the message “Error! Can’t initialize plug-ins directory. Please try again later.” appears, restart the Photonic Applications Package Manager with administrator privileges to resolve the issue.

Offline Scenario: How to Manually Add Package Files

In environments without internet access, the Action column may display “not available” in light gray, preventing package file downloads. In this case, download the package files on another device and add them manually.

Check the Package File Storage Location

Click “Download folder” at the bottom of the window. By default, this opens the folder: C:\ProgramData\Agilent\Photonic Application Suite\Download

Inside this folder, the Packages folder is the storage location for package files.

Copy the Package Files

Place the package files (ZIP files) downloaded on another device into the Packages folder. There is no need to unzip the ZIP files.

Refresh and Install the Package

After copying the files, click the refresh button to the right of the Action column. If the Action column changes to “Install”, the addition is complete. Click to proceed with the package installation.
